It seems that the accounting profession is getting too complex. My site is dedicated to explaining complex GAAP information to easy to understand. My name is Haresh Vaswani, and I am a CPA with over 20 years in public and private accounting. I started my career in accounting with KPMG Audit Practice and worked at several start-ups and midsize companies. And most recently as the controller for a cannabis company that manufactured and distributed THC derived products. I have been responsible from everything from preforming audits, financial and SEC reporting, mergers and acquisitions, KPI development, and others.
As an accounting professional, I feel its important to constantly learn about new and changing accounting standards. So I read about changes proposed by FASB, free webinars and articles offered by PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, AICPA and others. Most of these are free and you can also earn valuable CPE. Since every company that I have for, except KPMG, doesn’t value or pay for professional development, so I take it upon myself do as much free self-study as possible.
Over the next several months, I will update my site with useful information to help you gain practical and technical knowledge in several areas of accounting and finance. I will focus on:
1) The private company accounting practice
2) Complex GAAP rules
3) Tax Issues
4) Technology Issues
5) KPI Development for your business
6) Business Analytics
7) SEC Reporting. The process of filing the 10K and 10Q reports.
8) Discussing the accounting and tax issues facing cannabis companies
Hope you find the information useful. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
